A quick thanks…

This is just a quick post to say thank you to everyone who read, shared and commented on my last post “Chronic illness and the loss of self”. I’m still slightly overwhelmed by the response, I’ve had just short of 350 views, the majority of which were unique users.

I’ve been a journalist, so I’m used to people reading my work, although maybe not ever something quite so personal. But I’m not used to people commenting, getting in touch and sharing it with such lovely heartfelt comments. In fact, I’m not used to feedback from readers at all!  I even caught one woman sharing it on a Facebook Group for ME sufferers I happen to use, urging others to read it as she found it really helpful.

I have to admit I’ve been in tears a few times reading your comments and messages. I’m glad so many people could relate and so many found it helpful. You have given me a big boost to keep going with the blogs.

It’s also been a stark reminder that I am not alone in what I’m going through. While I’d rather you weren’t all suffering too, it’s nice to feel that sense of camaraderie amongst sufferers of an illness that is so isolating.

Best wishes to you all,

Laura
